The Ukrainian Arts Foundation of Greater Rochester was established in the summer of 2007 by a group of individuals who sought to create a unified organization for Ukrainian Arts and Culture. After much talk, and many meetings, the UAFGR was officially created, and recognized by the state of New York, on September 15th, 2007. Since then the following has been our mission…

The purpose of the Ukrainian Arts Foundation of Greater Rochester shall be to foster knowledge, love and understanding of Ukrainian custom and culture through the arts.It is the responsibility of the Foundation to provide an enriched learning environment where all members can participate and joyfully express their knowledge, ability, and talent in the performance and expression of the Ukrainian Arts.It is the intention of the Foundation to forge a heightened sense of community and friendship while sharing the spirit of Ukrainian art and culture with all. The foundation shall operate free from any political or religious affiliations and be inclusive of all those wishing to learn or express themselves through the Ukrainian Arts.

Since the beginning it has always been our intention to bring Ukrainians together. Although, we have concentrated primarily on Folk Dancing, we have encouraged arts through sponsoring events throughout the community. This includes anything from Zabava’s like Chervona Kalyna & Zimova Zabava, to Independent film screenings, to sponsoring guest Artists and Speakers to visit Rochester.
